Comprehensive Eye Exams with Advanced Diagnostic Technology
At View Optometry in North Vancouver, every comprehensive eye exam begins with the latest, non-invasive eye health screening technology. Our thorough pretesting gives our optometrists detailed, high-resolution information to detect issues early and accurately determine your visual needs.
What’s included in our comprehensive eye exam:
Retina scan for a clear view of the back of the eye
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for cross-sectional imaging of retinal layers
No-air-puff intraocular pressure check for comfortable glaucoma screening
Prescription approximation to guide your refraction exam
Corneal scan and corneal thickness measurement when needed
Optic nerve assessment to monitor glaucoma risk
Axial length measurement during children’s exams to assess myopia (nearsightedness) risk
Why routine eye exams matter:
Using advanced diagnostic equipment, we detect eye diseases early, including glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. Regular eye exams also reveal systemic health issues, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and sometimes signs of an impending stroke, that can first appear in the eyes. Early detection through routine screening can prevent vision loss and support overall health.
Expert care for every age
After pretesting, you’ll be examined by one of our highly trained optometrists who provide personalized treatment plans and guidance. We see patients of all ages and emphasize prevention, early detection, and comfortable, comprehensive care.

Children’s Eye Exams
Did you know learning is about 80% visual? Because children rely so heavily on sight, regular comprehensive eye exams are essential to support their development and keep vision in top form.
Vision screenings (such as those done in schools or pediatric offices) are helpful for detecting obvious issues, but they are not the same as a full eye exam. Even skilled screeners can miss up to one-third of children with eye or vision disorders. That’s why a complete eye exam with a licensed optometrist is important.
What a children’s eye exam checks
Visual acuity: How clearly your child can see at distance and up close
Amblyopia (lazy eye): Early detection improves treatment success
Strabismus (eye turns): Alignment problems that affect binocular vision
3D/Depth perception: Critical for coordination and learning
Eye tracking: Important for reading and classroom performance
Convergence: Ability to focus on near tasks without strain
Color vision: Detecting color deficiencies that may impact learning or career choices
Ocular health: Checking for signs of disease or structural problems
Axial length measurement for myopia management
We have the MYAH axial length measurement device to our clinic. We use axial length testing for all children aged 5 and up. Measuring axial length helps detect, predict, and monitor myopia (nearsightedness) progression, allowing earlier intervention and more effective myopia management strategies.
If you’re concerned about your child’s vision or want to book a full eye exam (including axial length measurement for kids 5+), contact our clinic to ensure their vision is supporting learning and development.
